Introduction to BCH
Buddhist Child home (BCH) is purely a non-governmental, non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit marketing, humanitarian and self-less social organization in Nepal. It was established on 21st No. 1996 A.D. (2054B.S.) It has been mainly focusing its activities for the protection and promotion of orphans, street children, helpless women, children in armed conflict, abuse and for their rights. It's equality working for women empowerment training and seminars, which has highly enhanced for supporting and to their welfare.
BCH as dedicated to society for human rights, child labour, bonded labour, women inmate rights and striving to eradicate poverty and illiteracy problems in Nepal. It's a good friend of children and women. It raises the strong voice against any kind of domination laid in children and women; this directly works with them for them at their problems and risk. It also helps for socialization, education human rights, justice, support empowerment and rescue for them at their social challenges.
According to the National population census of 2001, about 6, 32,000 children between the age 6-14 years are deprived of basic needs, child environment, human rights and educational opportunities. Destitute and orphaned children have led to the steep rise and there's many street children in major cities of Nepal like Pokhara, Dharan and Kathmandu. This is recognized as a crucial social problem and the major affecting factors of women and children's bright future have been indentified as, poverty, conflict, migration, illiteracy of parents, social customs, values and attitudes, disharmony of family, unemployment, commercial sex, crime, trafficking, diminishing family support, abuse, weak law and lack of legal support to the victims. Therefore there is an urgent need to support them. And BCH has been playing an important role to love their problems through direct or field visit, campaigning and social concientisation. It promotes community action and women empower through their active involvement or participation.
It has been providing them basic needs, love, care, training and modern education to leadership development, self-independent, decision making power, networking through vocational training and enabling them to fight for different rights, problems, needs, social-justice and challenges for better progress and prosperity. BCH is registered under the Nepal Government, district administration office of Kathmandu (DA) No. 363/054/055 BCH) and is also affiliated with the social welfare council of Nepal; (SWC (No. 6316. It is located at Jorpati VDC-2 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Vision and Mission
We envision to build a domination, unjustice and exploration free society where orphan, destitute, helpless woman, street woman and so on can get proper society care, protection equal human rights, promotion opportunities for all. It also envisages an enlightened Nepali society with the capacity and capability for the best realization of its human and physical potential. And as a mission it is aimed at improving the welfare of the children who are deprived of basic needs, education, love care, social justice and fundamental rights. So, BCH wants to create a region free of poverty, illiteracy and domestic violence, society mobilization, alliance building and solidarity in action. It envision to establish own school for helpless children along with its many branches in different parts of Nepal.
Objectives
- To promote healthy and quality life style of helpless children and woman.
- To provide care protection to illiterate abused and abandoned children by maintaining the gender equality, human rights and social justice.
- To conduct informal education and income generating training for uneducated woman to - To launch nutrition and family planning awareness programme.
- To raise civic sense (public awareness) on sexually transmitted disease like HIV/ AIDS and the importance of tool contraceptive.
- To create an apt enviroment and opportunities for physical mental, emotional, social and vocational development of children.
- To avoid the general people about the child prostitution and to mobilise the concerned citizen to join the fight against evil practices.
- To encourage fraternity empowerment and right based approaches outside of and within the organization itself.
Activities
- BCH has run informal education for adult and helpless children.
- BCH has giving an income generating skills to empower woman and to increases its resources for children. Candle, handicraft, washing soap, dolls, tailoring, hand knitting sweater and incense are our home product and training.
- BCH has conducted classes for children about the child psychology, good manner, social etiquette, discipline and well behaviour by the trained persons.
- BCH has managed eye camp, cleft lip camp and health check_up time and again.
Organizational Structure:
General Assembly
Executive committee and Advisor committee comprise kind hearted and socially renown people specially in the field of children and woman development welfare.
(BCH has seven persons as the board members of executive committee who govern it. They are selected by general Assembly for three years according to the Constitution of BCH.
Membership
Any citizen who are able, benevolent kind_hearted and philanthropic with social and humanitarian interest can contribute in woman and children welfare, promotion and protection through this institution (BCH). They can freely apply for general and life long membership. This institution has also a provision towards honorary membership for individual and institution concerning its physical infrastructure.

Welcome to Budhist Child Home to all the kind hearted people who are directly or indirectly helping us. Our family and I are very happy having proud with your help. Even your small selfless support can help to shape the bright future of our children.
BCH has wide scheme to enable enable the children regarding their personal growth, education, basic needs and many more recreational activities. This are planned to make their life prosperous as well as to play an influential role in this increasingly competitive international society. We are trying to make our children healthy (physically, mentally, socially and emotionally). We are very serious about their quality life, positive thinking and creative imagination for better progress and prosperity.
We are not that much strong enough regarding regular source or resources for our children. It sometime disturbs us. Your helping hands are always welcomed in BCH because they help to determine the future path of our children.
The early history of BCH was very pathetic and challenging. Since its foundation 21st Nov. 1996 A.D., it has much undergone a number of difficulties and changes including its location and size of family. "Love all, serve all". Its our motto finally, we request you all to visit us; talk with us and read our reality.

An Appeal
BCH believes that even a small contribution can assist to make bright future of helpless children. Accordingly we appeal to all the kind hearted people for any sort of self_less support to our children. Please visit us and meet our children who always long for your care and affection. Once again we would like to appeal you all to donate a piece of land or help to purchase it or other needful material to make our own building for an apt settlement of the children. Up to now we are existing on rented building facing a lot of difficulties.
