Testimonials
Our trip with the Pike Expeditions and Trekking team in April 2010 was an amazing experience. Our route through the ' middle hills ' of the Okhaldungha and southern Solukhumbu districts, including the beautiful and enchanting Pike Forest during the rhododendron-flowering season, should be on the list of every traveller to Nepal. We were superbly looked after as we trekked our way through this spectacular and peaceful part of Nepal. From our greeting with garlands of colourful Himalayan flowers to our time sharing cultural traditions with the villagers, Ngima and his wonderful team treated us like their own family.
As a group with a diverse range of physical ability, we were particularly impressed with Pike Treks attention to our individual well-being. Ngima himself is deservedly popular for his high standards of care for trekkers and for staff and the environment. We treasure our memories of Nepal. Thank-you everyone at Pike Expeditions and Trekking for making it all possible.

I first had the priviledge of meeting Ngima Sherpa in April 2010. A group of 10 from New Zealand's Geraldine Tramping Club, South Canterbury, travelled to Nepal to install solar lighting in Ngima's isolated village, Damar. It is situated in the middle hills, far from the main trekking routes and 3 days trek from the nearest town. Ngima provided care for our group for 3 weeks in every way possible, a support team of 25, including guides, cooks and porters. Our group spent 10 days in Ngima's village. On leaving we trekked for 6 days, via Pikey, Taktor, Kharikhola, through magnificent mature Rhododendron forests, visiting several monasterys and completing our trek at Lukla.
Ngima and his wonderful team were friendly, professional, good humoured and most responsible, encouraging us with every step when the going seemed tough, sometimes singing their trekking songs whjich we would delight in joining in. On occasions, in more demanding terrain our guides would carry our not so heavy day-packs as well as their heavy, larger packs to ease our loads.
The food throughout our trip was superb. We ate like kings and queens.
The trip enriched all our lives, we have learned so much from the Sherpas about their culture and their beautiful country. I have the utmost admiration and respect for Ngima and have no hesitation in recommending his trekking company and services, Pike Expeditions and Trekking, to furure trekking groups.

In Autumn 2009 we [3 people from the Netherlands ] visited Nepal for a climbing expedition to Baruntse [7129m\. Since we were interested in a 'tailored' trek to Baruntse we decided to seek the assistance of Pike Expedition and Trekking. The office manager was able to find excellent staff [some 14 porters, cook and cook helper] as well as a very good and strong climbing guide. The owner, Ngima Sherpa, guided a trekking group that left one day later, but eventually the two groups merged together. Ngima proved to be a very resposible guide. Without the 2 guides and all the other trekking staff it would not have been possible to successfully summit Baruntse. Food was excellent during the trekking, sometimes even better than Kathmandu resteraurants.
I would certainly recommend this agency, because they have the will and motivation to give their clients the best possible service.Pike Expedition and Trekking is a small agency with a sympathetic
owner and office manager. They offer the standard trekking and climbs, but are also very willing to think about other options, This we noticed a year later in 2010.

Ngima Sherpa took a group of 12 from New Zealand Federated Mountain Clubs on the Annapurna circuit in November 2004. It was a wonderful trip and a lot of the credit must go to Ngima and his assistants. They organised everything with great care and attention to detail. Ngima always sent one of his assistant guides running on ahead to find the best possible lodge for us. When preparing to cross the Thorung La, he checked that everybody was acclimatised sufficiently and got us all up in the early hours of the morning to give plenty of time for the climb and long descent to Muktinath. Ngima and his guides were always cheerful and encouraging. They paid special attention to the slower members of the party, offering help when needed but never in an obtrusive manner. Ngima is a good manager of his assistant guides and porters. He has many contacts throughout Nepal which can help to solve transport or accommodation problems. We can thoroughly recommend Ngima and his company.

In October 2000 I was lucky enough to go on trek with Ngima Sherpa. I had known of him for several years as one of my good friends had been trekking 8 times and had met Ngima as a young porter. My friend thought there was something special about him and kept up a correspondence with him and each succeeding trek renewed her friendship with him.
I would highly recommend Ngima Sherpa and his company. Ngima has a high level of integrity and compassion but he also has a real sense of fun with a great laugh. He treats his team well and you can see the respect they have for him. Often he does use family members and/or people from his village. We have had his uncle, brother-in-law, cousins and men from families that we visited in his village.
On the camping trips his equipment was a high standard, food was tasty and in abundance and every effort was made to make the trip enjoyable. Ngima maintains a high level of hygiene and on our 18 day camping trip, not a single one of us even had a twinge of gastric problems. He walked around the camping area as we left and picked up every bit of rubbish—this level of awareness is unusual.
